Cocktail Recipe: Rose Quartz Gimlet

If you know me, you know I am a tea and drinks fanatic. I love the mad science of it all, playing with chemistry, flavors, and herb properties to create new brews. Empress 1908 Indigo Gin is something special in this category. The butterfly peaflower that gives this gin it's indigo color is ph neutral. This makes for some fun reactions with acids and bases. In this cocktail for February, the bright lime juice and the fizzy grapefruit soda come together change the indigo into a beautiful clear light rose that reminded Lauren of rose quartz crystal. The elderflower is just enough to balance out the citrus zing with a touch of floral botanical. Recipe for the alcoholic version and mocktail below.
Into the Shaker:
2oz Empress 1908 Indigo Gin
1 oz St Germain Elderflower Liqueur
1oz Rose Syrup
1/2oz lime juice
Shake over ice and strain into a flute glass. Top with pink grapefruit soda. Garnish with rose petals
MOCKTAIL VERSION:
Into the shaker:
1oz rose syrup
1oz elderflower syrup
1/2 oz lime juice
Shake over ice and strain into a flute glass. Top with pink grapefruit soda. Garnish with rose petals.
Cheers to you and yours,
